PhD research study: Norah Fry Research Centre, University of Bristol, UK.
I have carried out ethnographic
research about social care services and the experiences of people with learning
difficulties from Chinese communities in England.
The aim of this study was to
understand how far cultural differences impact on the ways services work with
people with learning difficulties in England. I aimed to explore the
implications of this for services and for how people with learning difficulties
live in an increasingly multicultural society.
PhD Thesis: Including people with learning difficulties from Chinese backgrounds: An ethnography of three services.
Research Officer: Faculty of Health Sciences,
Staffordshire University, UK.
The aim of
this qualitative study was to explore the experiences of
people from a Chinese
background who receive social care for
a physical impairment in the UK.
The study investigated reasons why
people from Chinese backgrounds in England were less likely to
access social care services and has explored issues of culture, language,
access, community care assessment, transition and personal budgets.
